Published Dec. 9, 2016

The Plaquemines Parish Government, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, and the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission propose to construct and expand Peters Road over the GIWW and the East and West Algiers Canal levees.  The bridge span connects the previous USACE-approved roadways on either side of the GIWW via a 100-foot vertical clearance fixed bridge span.  The proposed bridge is approximately 5,400 feet long with a minimum of 100 feet vertical clearance at the centerline of the GIWW.  The project will also allow for approximately 90 feet of vertical clearance over the Algiers Canal levees.

The Peters Road Bridge over the GIWW will cross the north side of the Algiers Canal Levee near 29°49’56.18”N, 90°03’08.37”W and will cross the south side of the Algiers Canal Levee near 29°49’50.17”N, 90°03’06.05” W.
