Effective May 25,2020 interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) has been received and will be evaluated by the New Orleans District. Click here to read the official notice.

Effective May 28, 2020 interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) has been received and will be evaluated by the New Orleans District. Written comments, including any objections to the proposed alteration, stating reasons therefor, are being solicited from anyone having an interest in the requested alteration of USACE projects. This Public Notice solicits comments only on the proposed alteration of the eight federal projects and fourteen federal easements described below and depicted on the attached drawings. 16-404, Cargill proposes to perform maintenance dredging of approximately 0.5 acres of the Mississippi River at their facility near River Mile 103 in Westwego, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.

Cargill proposes to perform maintenance dredging by cutter-head dredge of a barge fleet area in the Mississippi River near River Mile 103.  The proposed action is located along the right descending bank of the Mississippi River (west bank) near river mile 103 in Westwego, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.  The 0.5-acre area will be dredged and maintained to a depth of -15 feet North American Vertical Datum.  The initial dredging will remove approximately 21,000 cubic yards of material.  Cargill will dredge approximately 2,000 cubic yards of material each year for four years, thereafter.  All dredged material will be placed back into the river beyond the 55-foot depth contour.
