How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice.

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page. Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period. The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request. If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

LOCATION OF WORK: The proposed activity would affect waters associated with the Mississippi River. The project/review area is located on the NE side of Highway LA 405 at Latitude 30.195729 and Longitude -91.024298 in Modeste, Louisiana within Ascension Parish.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The applicant requests Department of the Army (DA) authorization to fill wetlands and non-wetland waters and dredge water bottoms of the Mississippi River for the construction of a multi-use dock facility to include a conveyor trestle and temporary heavy haul road. The applicant is proposing to clear 15.16 acres of forested batture wetlands and 0.68 acre of scrub shrub wetlands for the construction of the trestle and temporary heavy haul road. Additionally, the applicant is proposing to temporarily fill 7.25 acres of emergent batture wetlands and 2.65 acres of non-wetland waters. The applicant is proposing to permanently fill 0.02 acre of non-wetland waters. The applicant is proposing to dredge 630,000 cubic yards of Mississippi River waterbottoms and dispose of the dredged material near the centerline of the channel. The multi-use, deep-water dock will facilitate the fabrication of manufacturing products generated by proposed RiverPlex MegaPark facilities.
