Public Notices Overview

How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice.

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page. Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period. The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request. If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

WATERWAY AND LOCATION: The project would affect waters of the United States associated with Bayou Lafourche. The project/review area is located on the West side of Norman Doucet Drive, 4.9 miles away Southwest of the intersection of Louisiana Hwy 1 bridge and Old Hwy 1 at Latitude: 29.1402777 and Longitude: -90.2191666, in Fourchon, Louisiana within Lafourche Parish. (Hydrologic Unit Code 08090301, Barataria Basin Watershed).

PROPOSED WORK: The applicant requests authorization to construct approximately 2,360 linear feet of bulkhead and dredge approximately 290-feet in front of the bulkhead then deposit 33,278 cubic yards (CY) of crushed stone used as fill, 10,328 CY excavated and placed onsite, and 276,007 CY of material excavated and hauled offsite. The proposed project will be limited to the dredging footprint and the bulkhead construction. The proposed project will temporarily impact 12.5 acres of water bottoms for dredging and permanently impact 4.3 acres of water bottoms due to bulkhead and placement of backfill.
