ALL projects are sorted by issuance date. The public notices and drawings are in PDF formatted files. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your PC to view the files. If you don't have it, you may download it free from www.adobe.com.

To view a Public Notice and its associated Drawings file (if any), click on the "Public Notice" or "Public Notice and Drawings" link and any additional links included in the attachments section. How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice. 

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page.  Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period.  The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request.  If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

Applicant: Lafourche Basin Levee District

WATERWAY AND LOCATION: The project would affect waters of the United States and navigable waters of the United States associated with Dufrene Ponds and Bayou Des Allemands. The project/review area is located to the southeast of US Highway 90 in Sections 19-20, Township 15S, Range 19E-20E; at Latitude 29.80083 and Longitude -90.49222; in Des Allemands, Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.

PROPOSED WORK: The applicant requests authorization to discharge fill in wetlands and non-wetland waters for the construction of the Midway Canal Levee and Godchaux Canal Levee segments to protect homes and business along US Highway 90 from flood and storm events. The applicant is proposing to fill 59.3 acres of fresh marsh wetlands to construct the levee segments. Additionally, the applicant is proposing to construct a flood gate within the Bayou Des Allemands channel. The applicant is proposing to fill 6.7 acres of bayou water bottoms for the construction of the flood control structure. Additionally, the applicant is proposing to dredge 102,500 cubic yards on 11.10 acres of bayou water bottoms and discharge the dredged material near the project site to create 12 acres of marsh. For the flood control structure, the applicant is proposing to discharge 51,830 cubic yards of rip-rap over 10.39 acres. The applicant is also proposing to construct a floodwall within the Godchaux Canal to connect the Midway Canal Levee and Godchaux Canal Levee. The applicant is proposing to operate and close the floodgates during a named storm when the water surface elevation in Bayou Des Allemands exceeds +1.5 ft NAVD 88 and will remain closed until the storm passes. The flap gates will remain operational throughout closures and allow flow from the protected side if water surface elevations inside the structure exceeds those outside of the structure.
