How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice.

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page. Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period. The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request. If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

LOCATION OF WORK: Located near the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) within Larose, Louisiana, within Lafourche Parish, (lat. 29.59148, long. -90.37103), as shown within the attached drawings. (Hydrologic Unit Code 08090301, Barataria Basin)

CHARACTER OF WORK: The applicant has requested Department of Army authorization to clear, grade, and fill wetlands for the construction of a levee reach and right-of-way (ROW) to the north of Larose, Louisiana. The purpose of the project is to provide flood protection to the residents of Larose. The applicant is proposing to permanently fill 11.16 acres of mixed forested and marsh wetlands for the construction of the levee and permanently fill 5.76 acres of wetlands for the establishment of the ROW. The applicant is also proposing to permanently impact 0.71 acre of non-wetland waters for the construction of the project. All cleared forested vegetation will be hauled off site and disposed at a state approved facility. The applicant will be required to utilize best management practices (BMPs) to reduce runoff and erosion into adjacent wetlands and non-wetland waterways during project construction.
