ALL projects are sorted by issuance date. The public notices and drawings are in PDF formatted files. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your PC to view the files. If you don't have it, you may download it free from www.adobe.com.

Viewing Notices. To view a Public Notice and its associated Drawings file (if any), click on the "Public Notice" or "Public Notice and Drawings" link and any additional links included in the attachments section. How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice. 

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page.  Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period.  The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request.  If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

LOCATION OF WORK:  Located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in Calcasieu Parish (30.25972, -93.12111, Hydrologic Unit Code 08080206, Calcasieu River Watershed).

 

CHARACTER OF WORK:  Rebuild and maintain an existing 69kV T-Line from the Lake Charles bulk substation to the Chlomal substation, and construct and maintain a laydown yard to store construction equipment.  The east-west section (poles 1-12) will be rebuilt in place, no expansion of the ROW will be needed for this section.  The north-south portion will be expanded from 100’ to 150’ (25’ on each side) and a line will be re-built to the west of the existing line.  All wooded vegetation within the proposed ROW will be mulched to a depth of no more than 4”.  The 41 new poles will be augured to a depth of 15-30’ and the spoil (379 cubic yards total) will be spread near the base of each pole at a depth not to exceed 3”.  Project implementation would impact approximately 6.4 acres of bottomland hardwoods, to be compensated through the purchase of mitigation credits from a Corps approved mitigation bank, and 32.7 acres of herbaceous wetlands, to be evaluated after a one-year growing season with potential for further compensatory mitigation.
