New Orleans Corps of Engineers christens new survey vessel named in honor of former employee.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, has a new hydrographic survey boat among its fleet of vessels that sails the waters of South Louisiana. The Motor Vessel (M/V) Ducarpe was christened during a ceremony held at the Seabrook Harbor & Marine March 7, 2024.

New Orleans District deputy commander promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has a new lieutenant colonel among its ranks. Former Maj. Nathaniel Weander, deputy commander of the USACE New Orleans District, pinned on the rank of lieutenant colonel during a promotion ceremony held Jan. 22, 2024, at the district headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana.

West Shore Lake Pontchartrain Summer 2023 Construction Update

Join the Army Corps of Engineers for a summer construction update on the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain - New Orleans, USACE Storm Damage Risk Reduction System as of 2023. This critical flood risk management infrastructure will provide much needed risk reduction for 60,000 residents in St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, and St. James parishes. The Project will construct a 100-year level risk reduction system extending from the Bonnet Carre spillway to Garyville. The structural component of the project is a 18.5 mile levee system that includes earthen levees, floodwalls and pumps
