Published June 7, 2013

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, in coordination with the Causeway Commission and Jefferson Parish, will temporarily close northbound lanes at Causeway Boulevard to accommodate preparation for and construction of the new canopy structure.

·       On Friday, June 7, the two right lanes will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

·       On Saturday, June 8, a complete closure of the northbound travel lanes will occur from 12:00 a.m. until 4:00 a.m. while the canopy structure is installed.

The Causeway Boulevard project is part of the Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System, which reduces the risk associated with a storm surge event that has a one percent chance of occurring in any given year, or a 100-year storm surge.

If at any time there are questions about construction of the system, call the Corps’ toll free Construction Hotline at 877-427-0345.
