NEW ORLEANS -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, will temporarily close the northwest-bound lane of General De Gaulle Drive, from the Holiday Drive Bridge to Behrman Place Bridge, on Monday, October 20, and Tuesday, October 21, 2025, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM each day.
This temporary lane closure is necessary to safely unload construction materials as part of ongoing work on the SELA 72.2 General De Gaulle Phase 2 project. The construction is a component of the federally funded Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA), which aims to improve drainage and reduce flood risks in the region.
Traffic control devices and signage will be installed and maintained in accordance with the Louisiana Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (LaMUTCD), the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) Work Zone Traffic Control Manual, and the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works standards.
The lane closure area will be monitored throughout the operation, with twice-daily inspections to ensure the safety of both the traveling public and construction personnel.
