Please listen to this message in its entirety This information is as of Monday, 31 October 2005. The Commander's evacuation orders are still in effect. However, effective 6 November 2005, some areas will be lifted. Effective 20 November 2005, the entire Hurricane Katrina evacuation order will terminate except for those approved By COL Wagenaar on a case-by-case basis. This date applies to everybody. Employees are instructed to keep in contact with their supervisors or the designated POCs for the satellite office. This contact is required so that COL Wagenaar can maintain accountability for his District employees. Failure to report may result in your safe haven allowances being terminated. All employees should be aware that Command guidance related to Hurricane Katrina evacuation allowances and TDY perdiem cancellation policy was issued in the MVNews Link issue 16, dated 29 October. The guidance is posted on the website. All employees should make time to get familiar with the policy. Specific questions with regards to this policy should be directed to your supervisor or the next appropriate senior manager in your chain of command. New Orleans District employees who can return to their homes should be there now. Those at satellite office should be planning to return as directed by Command policy. These satellite offices will not be able to remain in existence forever. These sites are temporary and will be disbanded as appropriate. All employees are again reminded that they should be contacting FEMA, Red Cross, and their insurance companies to begin processes: especially, the process of finding housing back in the New Orleans area. As areas are opening up, there are houses for sale and also rental property and apartments. If you have Internet access, you should regularly check out the District's webpage for any additional information postings. If you have any questions or require additional information you should be contacting your supervisor or a senior POC for your organization. This message will be updated as appropriate.
