Contractor: Washington Group International, Inc. Demolition, removal and disposal of the Galvez Street Wharf, warehouse
and adjacent storeroom. Most of the debris will be removed by barge. On
canal's west bank, roughly between North Derbigny and North Tonti streets.
Most of the debris will be moved by barge.
Contractor: Virginia Wrecking Company, Inc. (The contractor is
a small business). Existing levee to be enlarged to 22.4 feet above sea level with 1,300
linear feet of earthen levee and 300 linear feet of combination earthen
embankment and I-type floodwall. Pedestrian walkway and benches provided.
On west bank of Industrial Canal from St. Claude Avenue to Mississippi
River. As part of the design of the project's levees and floodwalls, a short
levee test section (150-200 feet long) will be built on east bank of
Industrial Canal, just north of existing lock. St. Claude Avenue to Mississippi River. St. Claude Avenue to Claiborne Avenue. Removal of Coast Guard buildings between St. Claude and North
Claiborne avenues. Most of the debris will be removed by barge. Offsite fabrication of 4-lane, center-span and lift works for existing
North Claiborne Avenue Bridge. Float in components by barge. Offsite fabrication for 1,200 by 110-foot lock. Float in modules by
barge. Install between North Claiborne and Florida avenues. At new lock and bypass channel between North Claiborne and Florida
avenues. Dredged material placed by pipeline in disposal site on south
bank of the Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet. St. Claude Avenue to new lock. Claiborne Avenue to New Lock. Project Feature Information
