Aside from the obvious benefits to the navigation industry, the Industrial Canal Lock
Replacement Project will have many additional benefits to the city, region and state. The city
will get two new, more reliable bridges at St. Claude and Claiborne Avenues, and an average of
at least 950 jobs annually can be created as a result of the construction of this project. According to an April 1998 report by University of New Orleans professor Dr. Timothy Ryan,
the Industrial Canal Lock Replacement Project will have a tremendous impact on the New Orleans
