American Creosote Superfund Site
Winnfield, Louisiana

Process Liquid Treatment Plant

Project Summary
Site Information

The site was operated as a wood treatment facility from the turn of the century through the late 1980's. Various companies had ownership of the site until 1985 when the site was abandoned.Sources of contamination at the site include: five unlined pits used forthe disposal of waste generated by the wood treating process, storage areas containing creosote, treated and untreated wood, and the plant at which the wood treating operations took place. Contamination was also caused by on site drainage ditches, which received surface water runoff from the facility.
