LPV-148.02 - Chalmette Loop Levee Hwy 46 to River (Verret to Caernarvon)
Construct T-wall on top of existing levee to 100 yr. elevation and install trolley gate across Bayou Road.
This reach is approximately 43,370 ft long. The work in this reach consists of constructing a new reinforced concrete T-wall supported by steel H-piles to be built on the existing levee. The existing levee will be slightly degraded in order to drive H-piles, drive steel sheet pile for seepage cut-off, and place a stone pad for placement of concrete footing. The foundations are typically embedded approximately 3.0 feet into the crown for erosion protection. Riprap will be placed from the flood-side toe to the protected-side toe for scour protection. T-walls to protect St. Mary’s Pump Station will be replaced and the existing Creedmore Drainage Structure will be demolished. The existing earthen levee ranges in elevation 14.5 to 19.0. The floodwall will be constructed to elevation 31.5 for future (2057/2060) conditions. Installation of a trolley gate across Bayou Road will also be included in this reach.
