Major Luis C. Gonzalez
Deputy District Commander
Major Luis C. Gonzalez assumed duties as the Deputy Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District on April 9, 2012.
Major Gonzalez was previously the Executive Officer of the New Orleans District. He arrived in New Orleans in 2010, following his assignment as a Team Chief and S3, 1-395 Engineer Battalion, 120th Infantry Brigade, Division West, 1st Army, where he supported National Guard and Army Reserve units deploying in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Major Gonzalez has 13 years of Active service in the U.S. Army following completion of two Bachelor’s degrees at the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master’s degree from the University of Missouri-Rolla.
His previous assignments include Platoon Leader, Executive Officer and Battalion S-4, 92nd Engineer Combat Battalion (Heavy), 24th Corps Support Group, 3rd Infantry Division, 18th Airborne Corps, Fort Stewart, Ga.; Division Engineer Targeting Intelligence Officer, OEF I; Commander, Echo Company, 1-67 Armor Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, formerly Bravo Company, 588th Engineer Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas; MiTT Engineer and EOD Advisor, OEF V; Operations Officer and Battle Captain, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
Major Gonzalez received his military education at the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Course, Airborne School, Air Assault School, and the Combined Arms Service Staff School (CAS3). He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers in 1998.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with one oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Engineer Association's (AEA) Bronze de Fleury Medal. Webmaster
