Public Notices Overview

How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice.

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page. Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period. The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request. If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

LOCATION OF WORK: On the right descending bank of the Mississippi River, approximately 97.9 miles above HOP, at 1805 4^th Street, Harvey, in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, as shown on the attached drawings.

CHARACTER OF WORK: To install and maintain a 50’ x 100’ tanker loading dock for bulk liquids with hose tower, four ship breasting dolphins with connecting walkways, five anchor piles with chains and buoys for mooring lines, and a 20’ elevated pipe rack with walkway to the levee which will connect to an existing tank farm facility on the protected side of the levee. The operation will protrude approximately 272 feet into the Mississippi River and require clearing of 0.03 acre of batture wetlands for the piperack as well as fill of 0.01 acres of previously-impacted non-vegetated waterbottoms for installation of 500 cubic yards of riprap around piles which penetrate the revetment. The applicant proposes to buy credits from a mitigation bank to offset any unavoidable losses to wetland functions caused by project implementation.
