Expiration date: 1/16/2017
NAME OF APPLICANT:  Louis Cheramie, c/o Andre Uzee, P.O. drawer 730, Galliano, Louisiana 70345.

LOCATION OF WORK:  Within the Barataria Basin (HUC 08090301); Section 32, T22S-R23E, on and south of Louisiana Highway 1, approximately 1.8 miles east of its intersection with Louisiana Highway 3090, near Port Fourchon, Louisiana within Lafourche Parish.

CHARACTER OF WORK:  The applicant has requested authorization to deposit crushed cement and dirt fill along his property in Bayou Lafourche for the purpose of stabilizing the property along Louisiana highway 1 and reclaiming lost land.  The applicant proposes to reclaim land in 5 phases.  For each phase, a retainer levee will be constructed out of rip-rap.  Rip rap will then be placed within the retainer levee to an elevation of -3.0 feet.  The retainer levee will be partially degraded to allow for the placement of approximately 2 feet of soil, which will be seeded with marsh grass to facilitate marsh establishment.  Approximately 204,789 cubic yards of concrete and 35,582 cubic yards of dirt will be placed in open water as a result of the proposed activity.  Approximately 11.2 acres of open water will be impacted by the proposed activity.  The applicant has minimized the impacts as much as practicable.  No impacts to vegetated wetlands are anticipated, thus, no compensatory mitigation will be required.
