Lane closure on Florida Avenue to extend for work related to SELA

ONLY TRUCK TRAFFIC WILL BE IMPACTED.

New Orleans – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District will shift the lane closure on Florida Avenue to include the area between Mazant Street and France Street for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA).

Beginning today, June 2, 2016, the lane closure on Florida Avenue will extend from Almonaster Street to France Street. Previously the lane closure was from Almonaster Street to Mazant Street. This will impact truck traffic traveling on Poland Avenue and France Road.

Trucks traveling north or lake bound on Poland Avenue / France Street will have to take the France Street / Alvar Street Overpass to access France Road. Trucks traveling south or river bound on France Road will have to take the Alvar Street / France Street Overpass to access France Street / Poland Avenue.

The Florida Avenue Bridge will not be impacted.

Signage will be in place to direct traffic. This lane closure will be in place until the end of the project in 2018

Throughout construction, the Army Corps will continue to coordinate closures with its partners at the City of New Orleans and the Sewerage & Water Board.
