Lane closure on Freret Street at Jefferson Avenue for work related to SELA

Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District will temporarily close Freret Street on the west side of Jefferson Avenue for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA), beginning Monday, November 9, 2015.

Beginning Monday, weather permitting, Freret Street will close on the west side of Jefferson Avenue for approximately one week. Traffic traveling east bound (downtown) on Freret Street will not be able to access Jefferson Avenue and will be detoured at Nashville Avenue and Octavia Street. Traffic traveling west bound (Uptown) on Freret Street will be able to turn north or south on Jefferson Avenue, but will not be able to cross Jefferson Avenue. The closure will not affect north and south bound traffic on Jefferson Avenue. A pedestrian crossing will be in place at South Robertson Street.

The closure is for installation of a water line across the original south bound travel and parking lanes on Jefferson Avenue.

Throughout construction, the Army Corps will continue to coordinate closures with its partners at the City of New Orleans and the Sewerage & Water Board.
