NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District will temporarily close Octavia Street at Prytania Street for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA).

Thursday, Oct. 8, Octavia Street will be closed at Prytania Street for approximately six weeks. Octavia Street northbound traffic will be diverted either east at Chestnut Street or west at Perrier Street. Southbound traffic on Octavia Street will be diverted at Pitt Street. Local traffic will have access up to Prytania Street, which will be closed to traffic between Jefferson and Nashville avenues.

This closure is for construction of the new culvert and drainage lines at the intersection.

Throughout construction, the Army Corps will continue to coordinate closures with its partners at the City of New Orleans and the Sewerage & Water Board.
