Corps to hold public meeting to solicit stakeholder input on plan to replace Industrial Canal Lock

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, will provide an overview of the recommended plan to replace the 85-year old Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Lock at a public scoping meeting on February 4, 2015 at Martin Luther King, Jr. Charter School, 1617 Caffin Ave., New Orleans.

The meeting begins with a thirty minute open house at 6 p.m. during which time project managers will be available to answer questions about the project. At 6:30 p.m. a formal presentation by the Corps will discuss the impacts of the project as discussed in the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement.

Participants are encouraged to voice concerns or comments they believe are appropriate to the project. In addition to comments made at the meeting, written comments will be accepted by letter and e-mail postmarked no later than February 18, 2015 to be included in the Scoping Report.

Questions about the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Lock Replacement will be answered during the public hearing open house which is from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 04. A formal presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a comment-only period. Please send all requests, inquires, or comments to:
