Published July 23, 2014

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, and its contractors will temporarily shift travel lanes on a section of St. Charles Avenue for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Drainage Project (SELA).

Beginning Friday, July 25, 2014, eastbound (downtown bound) St. Charles Avenue traffic will shift to the westbound side of St. Charles Avenue between Octavia Street and Leontine Street. There will be two-way traffic on the westbound side of St. Charles Avenue at this location.

The traffic shift is necessary for construction of a new drainage box culvert and water main on Jefferson Avenue at this location.

This lane shift will be in effect until October 2014.

Throughout construction, the Corps will continue to work closely with its partners at RTA, the Department of Public Works for the City of New Orleans, The New Orleans Police Department, Fire Department and Emergency Services. Traffic shifts in this area are also coordinated with the Jewish Community Center, local schools and adjacent residents. For questions or comments, please call the SELA Construction Hotline at 504-585-2450.
