Section of Prytania Street to close temporarily for SELA Uptown work

NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, and its contractors will temporarily close part of Prytania Street for drainage culvert installation. Work is for the Southeast Louisiana Drainage Project (SELA).

Beginning Monday, April 21, 2014, Prytania Street will be closed at Joseph Street in both directions, for approximately one year. Prytania Street, between Joseph Street and Nashville Avenue, was closed to through traffic previously, for SELA Uptown work and will continue to be closed until March 2015. Thru traffic is being diverted to Nashville Avenue.

Throughout construction, the Corps will work closely with its partners at the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans and the City of New Orleans. All SELA work in Orleans parish is scheduled to be complete in 2018.
