Corps releases environmental documents for public review

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District Protection Restoration Office, yesterday

released an addendum to a supplemental environmental report that provides further analysis of the alternatives under consideration for relocating a gas pipeline in the new enlarged Lake Cataouatche levee. “Individual Environmental Report Supplemental (IERS) 15.a2, West Bank and Vicinity, Lake Cataouatche Levee, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana,” is available for a 30-day public review and comment period. The IER environmental process allows the Corps to expedite the environmental review required of all federally funded projects while fully complying with the intent of the National Environmental Policy Act. The Corps encourages the public to provide written comments on IERs by mail, e-mail or by visiting www.nolanevironmental.gov at any time throughout the comment period.

Written or verbal comments on the Addendum to IERS 15a.2 must be submitted to the Corps by midnight on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Comments received during the public review period will become part of the official record.
