STEP OUTSIDE® Day slated for Saturday, May 11th

KROTZ SPRINGS – The 9th Annual STEP OUTSIDE Day, a unique outdoor education program, will take place at the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area Complex in the Atchafalaya Basin on Saturday, May 11, 2013.  STEP OUTSIDE Day is open to all children and adults; activities with run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

 

Locally sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, STEP OUTSIDE Day targets youths and individuals with special needs to provide them an opportunity to engage in safe, hands-on outdoor activities.  STEP OUTSIDE is a national program administered by the National Shooting Sports Foundation to increase participation in outdoor sports.

 

This year’s event includes fishing, archery, boating, target and trap shooting, bird watching and a fun jump/rock wall.  Exhibits on live wildlife, water safety, dog training, trapping techniques, and turkey and duck calling will also be featured.  

 

Lunch will be provided.  No alcoholic beverages or glass containers will be allowed on the premises.  Due to the nature of activities, liability waiver forms must be completed.  Camping is available at the Sherburne Headquarters.
