Published March 25, 2013

NEW ORLEANS, LA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans Dist rict, will host a public meeting to discuss the Greater New Orleans Area Hurricane & Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS) Comprehensive Environmental Document (CED) on Tues., March 26, 2013.

The CED summarizes actions taken to construct the five-parish HSDRRS, provides a cumulative impact analysis on completing these actions, identifies remaining data gaps and uncertainties, conceptually explains the status of the proposed mitigation plan, and describes the process for developing long term operations and maintenance plans. The Corps is preparing the CED concurrently with the ongoing construction of the HSDRRS. As such, it does not include a full cumulative effects analysis of the completed HSDRRS. However, sufficient information is available to provide a preliminary cumulative impacts assessment, as well as other project updates in this phase of the CED. The CED will be supplemented at a later d ate once construction on the HSDRRS is complete.

The CED is currently available for review and comment at mvnenvironmental@usace.army.mil. The deadline to submit comments is on Monday, Apr. 8, 2013. All comments postmarked on or before the expiration of the comment period will be considered.
