Portion of South Claiborne Avenue to close for roadway reconstruction

Work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA)

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, will temporarily close a portion of South Claiborne Avenue for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA).

On Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, and lasting for approximately one week, the right travel lane of the downtown bound (east bound) lanes of S. Claiborne Avenue will be closed at Louisiana Avenue. Traffic traveling on Louisiana Avenue is currently being detoured to Toledano Street, map below.

The lane closure is for roadway reconstruction at the intersection. The Louisiana Avenue, SELA project stretches from S. Claiborne Avenue to Constance Street and is scheduled to be complete later this year.

Throughout construction, the Army Corps will continue to coordinate closures with its partners at the City of New Orleans and the Sewerage and Water Board.
