• West Shore Lake Pontchartrain virtual public meeting scheduled

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District has scheduled a virtual public meeting regarding the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project. The meeting will be live-streamed on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 10 a.m. on the project’s Facebook page.
  • USACE reactivates Blue Roof program for homes damaged by Hurricanes Laura/Delta

    USACE is continuing to install blue roofs on homes damaged by Hurricane Laura. However, if you had a Hurricane Laura temporary blue roof installed by the USACE in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson Davis and Vernon parishes, and it was damaged by Hurricane Delta, the USACE will assess its condition, and, if appropriate, replace it. ALL eligible homeowners within the six affected parishes are eligible to sign-up for a FREE temporary roof through Oct. 24, 2020.
  • Mississippi River mainline levees Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement virtual public meetings scheduled

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers scheduled two virtual public meetings, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, for its Draft Supplement II (Draft SEIS II) to the 1976 Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS), Mississippi River and Tributaries (MR&T) Project, Mississippi River Mainline Levees (MRL). Comments will be accepted through Oct. 13, 2020.
  • Blue Roof Program sign-up station opening in Cameron Parish, La.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be moving its mobile Blue Roof Sign-Up Center adjacent to Louisiana State University’s Agricultural Extension at 10098 Gulf Highway, Cameron Parish, Sept. 20. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The mobile center will be co-located with FEMA’s Disaster Survivor Assistance Mobile Registration Intake Center. The application deadline to apply for Blue Roof is Sept. 30, 2020.
  • Operation Blue Roof sign-up for Hurricane Laura extended

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is extending the deadline to apply for Operation Blue Roof to Sept. 30, 2020. The original application deadline was set to expire Sept. 21. Residents can sign up for the program online at www.usace.army.mil/BlueRoof or call toll free 1-888-ROOF-BLU (1-888-766-3258).

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will move its mobile Blue Roof Sign-Up Center to Oberlin, Louisiana, at the Allen Parish Civic Center, 609 Tiger Lane, on Sept. 16. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The deadline to apply for Blue Roof is Sept. 21, 2020.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has opened a Blue Roof Sign-Up Center in Lake Charles, Louisiana, at the Lake Charles Civic Center, 900 Lakeshore Dr., open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The program is currently active in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson Davis, and Vernon parishes and is free to homeowners.

  • Contract awarded for Carrollton Floodwall Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, recently awarded a contract for the Mississippi River Carrollton Floodwall project in New Orleans. The $8.9M construction contract was awarded to APC Construction, LLC of Algiers, La. Construction is expected to begin in late September and be completed by March 2022.
