Location
The project is located in south-central Louisiana. The channel forms a junction with the Mississippi River near East Baton Rouge Parish.
Purpose
This project provides a slack water channel for barge traffic and provides and industrial expansion area for the port of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The project provides a 12-foot deep by 200 foot wide channel, and is 2.5 miles long from the channel's junction with the Mississippi River (Mile 2.5 to 5 of the project were deauthorized by WRDA 1974).
